AV Technician I

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

 

Build equipment system racks for installation. Test and debug equipment before shipping to customers. Provide maintenance and cleaning for warehouse and conference rooms. Troubleshoot, repair and maintain A/V equipment and systems for customers. Make service calls as needed. Ensure prompt return of A/V equipment to the manufacturer for repairs, follow-up with vendor as needed. Other related duties may, from time to time, be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

 

Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in media arts, computer science, electronics, audio visual technology and a minimum of six months related experience installing and maintaining audio visual equipment. Position requires training/knowledge of Polycom and Tandberg codecs and Sound structure technology, IP network knowledge, ISDN network knowledge, “hands-on” experience in wiring racks and wire management. The equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

 

Language Skills

 

Ability to read and interpret AV system drawings, schematics, and construction plans. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Mathematical Skills

 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Skills

 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, and IP network knowledge, ISDN network knowledge, “hands-on” experience in wiring racks and wire management.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

 

Preferred certifications include AVIXA’s (formerly InfoComm) CTS, CTS-I or CTS-D and Federal Government issued Secret Clearance or above.

 

Other Skills and Abilities

 

Working knowledge of AV equipment, protocols/standards and cable management, cable terminations, and soldering.
